To whom it may concern, I was asked by Mr Baird to look at and give my opinion of the standard of the decorating which had recently been carried out on the above property. Without looking too hard I could see that the walls had very little if no preparation before applying the paint, likewise with the woodwork paint has had no preparation. Notes: 1. Nail heads that had popped on the walls were visible and had not been filled. 2. Shrinkage gaps between the walls and ceilings were not made good. 3. Old build up of paint on external corners were not rubbed down prior to applying paint. 4. Splashes of different colour paint are visible on the walls. 5. The woodwork paint is all over the walls especially above the dado rail. 6. The woodwork paint is very thin and has not covered. Summary: The standard of work carried out by the decorators is of very poor quality, with paint runs on the woodwork, and it looks like only one coat has been applied and in places no paint has been applied. The radiators are left in a terrible state with splashes of the wall colour visible. Very little preparation with marks and gaps to the walls not being filled before painting. The door furniture was not removed before painting and is now covered in paint. Paint was splashed on the floors which indicates that dust sheets were not used. This work is of a very substandard finish which would cost more to correct than any money already spent on it. Yours Sincerely, Hugh Irwin
